More Than Buying a Horse — Finding the Right Partner

After years of training, selling, and helping clients navigate the horse world, one thing became very clear to me — finding the RIGHT horse can be overwhelming, stressful, and honestly, sometimes heartbreaking.

What started this journey for me was helping my old boss purchase eleven horses for his dude string. That experience opened the door to countless conversations with people searching for safe, dependable horses they could truly enjoy. Since then, I can’t count how many times I’ve heard:

“Hey… if you hear of anything for sale, let me know.”

And over the years, I realized I had quietly built something incredibly valuable — a strong network of trusted horse and mule contacts, along with the experience to honestly evaluate what horse fits what rider.

That’s why I officially opened Equine Purchase Consulting.

This service is about far more than simply finding a horse for sale. It’s about helping people avoid ending up with the wrong horse. A horse can look perfect in a video or sound great in an ad, but not every horse is the right match for every rider, family, program, or goal.

Whether you’re searching for:
• A safe trail or backcountry partner
• A ranch horse
• A youth horse
• A show or arena prospect
• A dependable mule
• A family-safe mount
• Or your next step-up horse

…I’m here to help guide the process honestly and realistically.

I believe in evaluating horses in real-world situations, discussing both strengths and weaknesses openly, and helping clients make confident decisions. My goal is simple: to help riders find horses they can truly enjoy, trust, and succeed with.

For some clients, that may mean helping locate and test horses. For others, it may include honest evaluations, exposure testing, or even an optional 30-day evaluation period with me before making a final commitment.

People who’ve worked with me know I’ll tell you exactly what I think about a horse — the good and the bad. I value honesty, safety, suitability, and long-term success over making a quick sale.

I continue to stay busy with lessons, clinics, camps, and training, so consulting availability will remain limited. But I truly appreciate every client who trusts me to help them through one of the biggest decisions in the horse world: choosing the right partner.
